Current Maintenance Rules & Future Improvements
Share
We want every user to print with confidence, fully understanding why your printer performs certain maintenance actions, what they do, and how they protect your print quality.
These actions aren't "wasted ink." They’re part of a carefully designed maintenance system that keeps your printer running smoothly, your colors accurate, and your prints consistent.
Meanwhile, we're continuously improving these routines to make them smarter, faster, and more ink-efficient.
Initial Ink Filling
When your printer is powered on for the first time or reset to factory settings, it performs an initial ink fill.
- It first flushes out the moisturizing liquid that was pre-filled in the printhead to keep it protected during storage.
- It then injects ink and fills the internal tubes, preparing the system for stable, high-quality printing.
Replacing ink cartridges alone will not trigger this process again.
| Action | Trigger Timing | Time Consumed | Ink Consumption (per color channel) | Cleaning Liquid Consumption (per color channel) | Moisturizing Liquid Consumption (per color channel) |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Initialize ink filling | Turn on (only once) | 27min | 15ml (9.3ml for flushing out the moisturizing liquid, 5.7ml for future prints) | 4.67ml | - |
Future Improvement: We’re testing an updated initialization method that reduces ink use while keeping top-tier print quality.
Pre-Print Priming
Before each print, the printer performs a short pre-print priming. This step ensures the printhead is in perfect condition before ink touches the surface. It ensures higher print success rates and minimizes the chance of defects and material waste. The ink used for pre‑print priming is not included in the ink usage estimation for each print project.
It helps:
- Stabilize ink flow and pressure
- Ensure consistent colors from the first layer
| Action | Trigger Timing | Time Consumed | Ink Consumption (per color channel) | Cleaning Liquid Consumption (per color channel) | Moisturizing Liquid Consumption (per color channel) |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Pre-Print Priming | Before each print | 2min30s | 0.2ml | - | - |
Future Improvement: We’re testing a new method priming trigger that runs based on print intervals rather than every job, helping reduce ink use while keeping output reliable.
Automatic Maintenance
System-initiated at regular intervals or during idle periods, aimed at preventing print head drying or clogging to maintain long-term stability.
Flash Clean - quick refresh, minimal ink use
| Action | Trigger Timing | Time Consumed | Ink Consumption (per color channel) | Cleaning Liquid Consumption (per color channel) | Moisturizing Liquid Consumption (per color channel) |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Automatic Flash Clean | Every 10 mins when idle | <30s | 0.000004 ml | - | - |
Automatic Deep Clean - for frequent or daily printing
When the printer is used heavily or on a daily basis, it automatically performs a deep cleaning at midnight if no deep cleaning or moisturizing has occurred within the past three calendar days.
| Action | Trigger Timing | Time Consumed | Ink Consumption (per color channel) | Cleaning Liquid Consumption (per color channel) | Moisturizing Liquid Consumption (per color channel) |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Automatic Deep Clean | At midnight if no deep cleaning or moisturizing has occurred within the past three calendar days. | 45min | 0.33ml | 1.5ml | - |
| Ink Injection | When preparing to print | 5 min | 1.5ml | - | - |
Automatic Moisturizing - for occasional printing or idle periods
If the printer remains idle for over 1 calendar day, it will automatically perform moisturizing maintenance at midnight. When your machine is in a moisturizing state, it will not consume any additional moisturizing fluid and ink.
| Action | Trigger Timing | Time Consumed | Ink Consumption (per color channel) | Cleaning Liquid Consumption (per color channel) | Moisturizing Liquid Consumption (per color channel) |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Automatic Moisturizing | At midnight if the printer remains idle for over 1 calendar day | 7min30s | 0.33ml | 1.83ml | 1.33ml |
| Ink Injection | When preparing to print | 9 min | 1.5ml | 1.83ml | - |
Future Improvement: In the future, we will open more flexible options for deep cleaning and moisturizing, and you will be able to make more appropriate and economical maintenance strategies based on your printing plan and schedule.
Safe Shutdown Maintenance
During normal use, keep the device powered on to ensure auto maintenance operates properly. When not using the device for extended periods, you can manually press and hold the power button for 5 seconds to initiate the shutdown process, then wait approximately 7min30s for moisturization to complete. When your machine is in a moisturizing state for a long time (such as when you go on vacation), it will not consume any additional moisturizing fluid and ink.
| Action | Trigger Timing | Time Consumed | Ink Consumption (per color channel) | Cleaning Liquid Consumption (per color channel) | Moisturizing Liquid Consumption (per color channel) |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Safe Shutdown Moisturizing | Manually when not using the device for extended periods | 7min30s | 0.33ml | 1.83ml | 1.33ml |
Manual Cleaning
While automatic maintenance helps prevent potential issues, manual cleaning is designed to resolve print quality problems that may occur during use. If you notice color shifts or irregularities in your output, you can conduct these actions below:
- Flash Clean – quick refresh, minimal ink use (≈ 0.000004 ml ink per channel)
- Medium Clean – standard cleaning to stabilize output (≈ 0.2 ml ink per channel)
- Deep Clean – intensive cleaning for print head clogging or severe print issues (≈ 1.5 ml ink + 1.83 ml cleaning liquid per color channel)
| Action | Ink Consumption (per color channel) | Time Consumed | Cleaning Liquid Consumption (per color channel) | Moisturizing Liquid Consumption (per color channel) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Flash Clean | 0.000004ml | <30s | - | - |
| Medium Clean | 0.2ml | 2min | - | - |
| Deep Clean | 1.5ml | 9min | 1.83ml | - |
Future Plan of Improvement
Optimize Maintenance Strategies
We’re testing smarter maintenance strategies that minimize ink consumption based on your printing patterns, while ensuring printhead stability and long‑term performance. These include interval‑based pre‑print priming (which may reduce ink usage for frequent users), more flexible deep‑cleaning schedules that align with your printing routine. We’re also evaluating an optimized initialization process designed to lower ink usage during setup without compromising the exceptional print quality.
Large-Capacity Ink Supply System (Q1 2026)
Our large-capacity ink supply system will be available in Q1 next year. By slightly increasing the hardware cost per cartridge while significantly expanding the ink volume, it effectively lowers the cost per ml of ink. This hardware upgrade maintains full compatibility with existing maintenance routines while extending replacement intervals and enabling longer unattended printing sessions. The system is designed for both cost efficiency and sustainability, reducing packaging waste and transportation impact per unit of ink.
